Courage of the Heart

I am not strong from the weights I lift or the work out program I religiously follow. I am strong from picking myself up, I am strong because ingrained in me is the thought, “get knocked down 7 times, stand back up 8”. I am strong because when I see someone who can’t quite get back up on their own, I pull them up with me. I am strong because sometimes I have to Carry Those I LOVE. I am strong because there are words that I deny; quit, abdicate, bow out, check out, drop out, evacuate, exit, forsake, get off, give up, relinquish, resign, surrender, vacate, walk out on, withdraw, yield….. I can not let those words take hold, I can not let the cold that sometimes pierces my heart abscond with my hope. Life is too precious to be capricious with, to just give up on… to just allow to recede into the back drop…
Fortitude is not just something that you are born with, it is not happenstance, but it is your will… When you finally find that one thing that you can not live with out, that you would fight for till your final breath… That one thing that keeps life and sanity in check, that gives you the strength, the fortitude… that gives you drive and determination… that gives you LIFE!

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again ~ Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, screenplay)
